I just spoke to a Customer Representative who attempted to insult my intelligence by saying they had not changed the formula. I can see the color change, the texture change, the decreased clumping and the cement gummy aspects of the “new formula” plus two of my cats are now experiencing some respiratory issues. I am buying new litter to find a permanent replacement litter brand now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed with a change in formula We have used this litter for the past 7ish years, since our oldest cat was a kitten. (I believe it used to be ultra unscented before they switched to simply unscented). We never ever had a problem either smelling the litter or with the cat waste. The last few bags we purchased, I smell it in my house as soon as I walk in the door. It smells like dank cat pee in clay. Very disappointed!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful since changed formula You changed the formula and I am very unsatisfied…..change in color and smaller granular size, tracks terribly, no odor control, harder to scoop….like sludge. I have been using Simply Unscented for many years, now will be switching to another brand litter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Run!! The new formula is horrible. I used this litter for at least 14 years, it was great but not anymore. People never even knew where my litter box was in my house. I see other people have reviewed the new formula. I want to say it's horrible and I think I'm actually allergic to it. It's so dusty and it has an odor that the original formula did not have. My top lip swells from giving my cat kisses which has never happened before. I can't use it at all. My cat is 16 years old, I hate to be at square one. I'm so upset. I hope they'll switch back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Company should be ashamed about this product. I am sorry that I can't give a review lower than one star. I am not happy at all with the new formula and based on a lot of the reviews it appears that I am not the only one. I don't know why they decided to change the formula but it would have been nice to advertise that fact on the packaging. After using this kitty litter for years I will now have to find another litter that doesn't look like grey sand. I have no idea how this stuff is going to affect my vacuum cleaner. And the response from the company to all of these complaints is always the same. For a company that has been around for a long time I have a feeling that they might not be around for much longer if this is how they treat their customers. I will be canceling all future shipments of this product from Chewy and look for something else. I hope the company learns from this mistake before it is too late because once you lose a customer base it is very hard to win them back.

I’ve been using it for over seven years for my cats, my house has never smelled like cat litter even in the same room as the litter buckets. But suddenly the last two cases have been a completely darker color and different consistency, they have a floral sent to them as soon as you open the bag, and my house smells like litter as soon as you walk in the door. Even the clumps are weird and soft and cemented to the little box. I don’t know what happened to this product, but it is not the same, and I am extremely unhappy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A change for the WORSE I've been a loyal Fresh Step clumping cat litter mom for many, many years and I have always been very happy with the product, until my last purchase. What ever Fresh Step changed now makes this the absolute worse! The clumps are sticking to the sides and bottom of the box, and I keep at least 4 inches of litter in each of my 7 boxes! When you scrap the clump up it breaks apart leaving tons of little pieces everywhere, leaving what looks like a dirty box. My six cats are very finicky about their boxes and litter and all have now started to roam from box to box looking for one that is "clean" with no left over clumps from the previous visitor. I typically clean the boxes 3 times a day ( you have to stay on top of it with six cats!) but now I'm constantly have to scoop to try to get to it before it cements to the sides or bottom of the box and endlessly trying to get all the small bits that broke off up out of the box. TERRIBLE!! Go back to what you guys were doing before because this change is not a good one!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible New Formulation I've used Fresh Step Litter for a long time and have been totally satisfied with the product. All that changed with the new formulation. The clumps are heavy and have the consistency of cement, especially if stuck to the side or bottom of the litter box. The clumps break apart leaving small pieces behind. The litter sticks in the cats paws and scatters EVERYWHERE. It's like having sand all over the house! Sadly, I will be returning the 2 cases of litter that I just bought and replace them with a competitor's product. I sincerely hope your company will listen to the recent reviews and go back to the original formulation.
