Rated 1 out of 5 by from New formula is awful!! The new formula is NOT unscented. It smells terrible, exactly like their other scented formulas. It’s very disappointing because this was my favorite litter. Unfortunately my cat started having breathing issues as soon as I put this in the litter box. My home also smells awful because of it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible--Neither Unscented Nor Low Dust For nearly 10 years, I used Fresh Step "Ultra Unscented" litter for our two cats because we found it to be the best available in terms of having no scent, low dust, and was not tracked around the house. The "Simply Unscented" litter is substantially worse by all metrics and appears to be worsening in the last few months. As many recent reviews emphasize, the litter is NOT unscented and is horrifically dusty. The light Febreeze-like smell did not initially bothersome since the litter boxes are placed out of the way. Of late, however, it is apparent that the dust is settling on our short-haired cats causing them to smell like the litter. Worse still, they are clearly spreading it around the house as every fabric they come into contact with (clothes, blankets, furniture) now smells like litter. Thankfully, my cats are not particularly fussy about litter and have continued to use their boxes despite my displeasure with "Simply Unscented". In terms of clumping, I have not noticed a decrease in scooping effectiveness, but more litter is being tracked around the house.

It has a smell; it is way too fine, which adds dust and tracking; and it does not last half as long as original. My cat hates it and so do I. I also used this because the 4 pack is easy to break up and carry individually. Sure wish you would fix it! I just ordered Dr Elsey's.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible! I've been using Fresh Step for over 20 years, but I’m done after their recent formula change. The new ultra-fine texture is terrible. It creates huge urine clumps that are nearly impossible to scoop and just fall apart when you try. It’s a total mess and makes cleaning the litter box way harder than it needs to be. I’ve trusted this brand for two decades, but after this change, I’m never going back. Disappointed and frustrated.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible New Formula Agree with the others who are frustrated with the new formula - I have been using this litter for a long time then all of a sudden it changed - it is no long fragrance free and there is so much dust. I smell it all over my house and on my cats - super frustrating - there was no notice to consumers that there was any changes ( I get auto ship).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT UNSCENTED This is NOT unscented. It is strongly scented with a perfume smell. I bought several boxes and filled my cat's little boxes. I thought surely just one box was mislabeled but no, all the boxes. This needs to be recalled. It is still on the shelf at my Ingles grocery. DO NOT BUY. I now see that consumers are noticing. I have bought another unscented brand and tomorrow will completely clean out the boxes of the Fresh Step UNSCENTED.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible smell. Not unscented anymore. It is certainly not unscented anymore. I have been using unscented for many years and this is definitely sending with a perfume smell. I was sent a new 42 LB package and that smells also. So I'm trying to find out if the formula was changed which would be ridiculous to make an unscented litter scented. So now I'm being told that the unscented has a natural scent. Not true this is not a natural scent. I only wanted to know because I have to find another litter if it's the way it's going to be. No need to contact me I've been in touch with someone and can't get an answer as to why it smells.
